Applications
The Applications of UV Bonding & Assembling
-
LCD & Touchscreens
Ultraviolet technology bonding is used in the manufacture of LCD & touch screens. The process uses ultraviolet glue to bond the elements together. This is effective because of the adhesive’s high transparency and extremely good stability in most environments (including those with high humidity and bright sunlight).

Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
UV technology is used in the bonding process during the manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs). Conformal coating material is applied to electronic circuitry to act as protection against moisture, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes that if the product were uncoated, could result in damage or failure of the electronics to function. When electronics must withstand harsh environments and added protection is necessary, most circuit board assembly houses coat PCBs with a layer of transparent conformal coating.
UV coating also can prevent damage from rough handling, installation, and reduction of mechanical and thermal stress. It can prolong the life of the product during its operation and it can help to increase the dielectric strength between conductors, enabling the design of the PCB to be more compact.

Electronics & Optical Media
Ultraviolet is often used in the bonding, printing and coating of optical media discs and other electronics. For example, DVDs are created by bonding two optical disks together using UV curable adhesives, then dried using ultraviolet radiation.
It is normal for optical media such as CDs and DVDs to have some form of decoration printed on the non-data side. Often screen inks that are curable by ultraviolet radiation are used for this purpose.
Ultraviolet coatings offer superior abrasion and scratch resistance and are often used to protect the data side of optical media discs. The application of the coating is usually done by a dispense-and-spin (spin coat) technique, followed by exposure to a UV lamp.
