We continue our Q&A series with Alpha-Cure team members with some quick-fire questions on all things production and material planning.
Q. First things first, what’s your name and job title?
Paula Cherry – Production Admin Manager
Q. And how long have you been working for Alpha-Cure?
21 years!
Q. So, what is your typical day like? What are your main objectives and what do you need to get done?
A typical day can have a wide range of activities, from ensuring Alpha-Cure UK and China factories have balanced daily production schedules, to analysing stock levels against orders in an effort to maintain the high level of lamps we can supply from stock. I also analyse raw material stock levels and re-order items as necessary, as well as keeping HR personnel records up to date, and deal with any queries from the sales, production and China teams.
Q. Wow, that is a broad range of responsibilities. Did your previous experience provide a good grounding for the role here?
Many moons ago prior to having my family and joining Alpha-Cure I worked as a legal secretary. My first 6 years at Alpha-Cure were spent on the shop floor working in the electrode prep area which provided a good grounding for my current role.
Q. What do you enjoy about working here?
Alpha-Cure’s a great company to work for, the company genuinely cares about their staff, and there’s certainly a lot of variety within my position, every day provides new challenges!
Q. That’s good to hear. Let’s find out more about you… what’s your idea of a perfect day?
A perfect day for me would be spent by the coast, a long coastal walk followed by a nice glass of wine by the beach.
Q. Are you a coffee or tea person?
Coffee (although must have a cup of tea first thing in the morning)
Q. How do you rate the music choices being played in the factory / office?
The packing team and the factory team can have some good 70’s and 80’s tunes playing.
Q. Final question – what’s your main focus or piece of work to smash out of the park over the coming months?
That would be to ensure a smooth transition to the new Scheduling System and I’m looking forward to gaining all the benefits that it offers.
Thanks for your time in answering the questions Paula, but given what your role covers it’s best we let you get back to all that planning now.
